Grammy winner Ulysses Owens Jr. doesn’t miss a beat when working with young musicians at his non-profit.
On this particular Wednesday, Owens was at the Brown center, working with a group of youngsters he calls his Don’t Miss a Beat All-Stars. They are 14 kids picked to give public performances. Owens was helping the program’s music teacher, Kendra Cash, to prepare the All-Stars to perform Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” at the TEDxJacksonville conference in the Florida Theatre Oct. 22.
